YWCA SafeHouse Flint, MI
SafeHouse is a 31-bed unit facility that provides 30 days or more of safe emergency shelter and supportive services to homeless survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. SafeHouse shelter services include: emergency shelter, food and clothing, personal advocacy, childcare, specialized children’s activities, housing advocacy, support groups, educational classes, and referrals to community resources. While in SafeHouse, residents may also access all YWCA services, including Counseling and Legal Advocacy Services. Upon leaving SafeHouse, individuals may still access YWCA services, and may return to SafeHouse as often as needed.
SafeHouse Services provided during 2009-10 included:
Adult Survivors sheltered: 315
Children sheltered: 244
Shelter Nights - Women: 5,557
Shelter Nights – Children: 5,522
Crisis Line Calls: 2,589
