Please take a moment and read up on your local Safehouse in our community and what they need from you and what they can do for you if you're in need of help.

Please take a moment and download a pdf of the Safehouse needs that we are collecting all year long at Sawyer Jewelers.

• You keep the purses you would have given away or sold during the year.
  

• We need 2 types of purses.
  
  • 1: Designer Brands like Coach, Michael Kors, Prada, Louie V., any Macy brands, TJ Maxx brands and more. 
    
  • 2: Purses that are "everyday" purses that may be brands like Target, Walmart, Payless types will be cleaned and filled with toiletries. (We are not collection these for the 2017 event)
    

• We collect both purses and toiletries during January, Feburary, and March at Sawyer Jewelers and other drop off locations (these are listed in the flyer available for download here).  We clean them and decide if they will be filled with toiletries for women who enter the YWCA Safehouse or put them up for auction at Sawyers PFP Event in April.
  

• You also can donate toiletries anytime during the year that We will put into purses, from extras you have at home or trips you go on.  You know - take home all the hotel toiletries, they are perfect! Donations are always taken at Sawyers store. Download the list of needed toiletries by following this link.
  

• How can you donate Designer Handbags? 
  • Donate your gently used that are sitting in your closet, you know you have at least one!
  • Get together with your office and have each person donate 5.00 to 10.00 each then go shopping! Birch Run outlet is always fun, what about Marshall's or TJ Maxx?  They always have great purses! Many times simply shopping the Sale departments at Macy's is fun and there's great deals!
  • The number 1 way to Donte is simply to ask your girlfriends to help out, have them each donate 1 bag they aren't using any longer or a bag they bought but "just don't use". All donations are tax deductible. 

• You get to attend the PFP Event Auction on April 11th of 2017 and bid on Designer purses to take home.  See the image to the right of the Blue Bag with the New tags?  It's a retail COACH bag that retails for 395.00.  I won it for $125.00!  I'll use it all year then donate ti into the auction for 2017's Purses for Protection event

• In 2017 we have a goal of raising 12,000 at this event.
  
  •  The funds will be donated to support the Genesee Counties first Sexual Assault Crisis Center that is located inside the YWCA Safehouse.
  • ZONTA Club of Fenton's Teen Dating Violence program for our school systems and their Human Trafficking awareness program locally.

• Funds raised will go programs that benefit Women and children in our area.  IN 2016 we raised monies for:
  
  • Flint YWCA Safehouse.  We completely paid for new rooms in the new facility including a New Mothers Nursing Room, a Bedroom, and a Laundry Facility.
    
  • ZONTA Club of Fenton's Teen Dating Violence program for our school system and their Human Trafficking awareness program locally.
