Purses for Protection - April 14, 2016

A fundraiser to benefit the local YWCA Safe House in Flint thru Sawyer Jewelers, CARS 108, and Zonta Club of Fenton, Michigan. Thank you to all who supported us during our 1st ever Purses for Protection Event!
We collected your Designer Brand purses that you weren't using any longer or were willing to donate to our cause. We had secure drop off locations listed for your convenience through the community. All donations are tax deductible thru Sawyer Jewelers new "Gem Charities Inc." 501c(3). We also took in donations of toiletries for these ladies and had a goal of filling 100 purses that are donated that aren't "Designer" brands. These will be given to women when they arrive at the Safe House as many arrive with nothing.  We filled over 200 purses!

What did we do with these Top Designer Brand purses?
2 things...

  1. CARS 108 placed 6 purses into their online website Sieze the Deal Auction for "Live Bidding" and they all sold.
  2. Sawyers held the In-store Event on April 14, 2016 from 6-8pm. Here there was the the opportunity to Bid on all the purses in a silent auction style, raffle ticket style, and just plain have the opportunity to outright win one!  Again, they all sold!

Did we mention we wonderful food from Wellbridge of Fenton and wine from the Fenton Winery and Brewery? We hope you have never experienced any type of abuse but please remember it's right here in our own back yard and no one deserves to live in fear.

Additional Information about the evening:
Zonta Club of Fenton was in attendance to talk about their programs, especially information on Teen Dating violence in our area.
There were "survivors" attending, and we had the opportunity to lift them up together.
There were lots of raffle give-a-ways from local businesses that have generously donated like Serendipity Day Spa in Linden and Frankenmuth, and the Amazing Rejuv Ave in Downtown Fenton. Yellow Dog Marketplace in Goodrich, Sommerset Salon in Flint.

We raised $5,000.00 for the YWCA Safehouse and $1,500.00 for the Zonta Club of Fenton.
